THE STEPS is a one-of-a-kind modern day noir thriller about Charlie Madison, a Hollywood P.I. who used to bug the houses of the stars before getting into hot water with the law and setting out to live under an assumed identity in small town, USA. Shot on location in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the web series depicts a tortured, recovering alcoholic who is desperately hoping that his dark past will stay behind him where he left it. But Charlie’s troubles have followed him to his new home, and they’re not going anywhere.
Robert Bass (left) is the Tremont Tavern bartender, a shady drug addict who ends up getting murdered, though we don’t know what for just yet. His is the body that Charlie (Dylan Kussman, center) finds at the beginning of episode one, and the one that gets him into so much hot water in his new home town. Joe McNutt (right) is Los Angeles Assistant D.A. Timothy Simpson, a man who seems to want to bring Charlie to justice for good reason. As time goes on, however, it is apparent that he’s got much darker, much more personal motives for his pursuit of the elusive private investigator.
